Exchange Server/Post-installation tasks

Overview

The Exchange server cannot function without any configuration.

Perform the following operations to help you configure your server.

Enter the product key

By default, the Exchange server runs as a Trial Edition. The trial version can be used for up to 180 days.

If you want to keep using it beyond 180 days, you need to buy a license and enter the product key.

Log in to the Exchange Admin Center, navigate to servers → servers, select a server and click Edit(✏️).

On the General tab, enter your product key.

Configure the DNS records

To route mail to the server correctly, you need to configure both internal and external DNS.

If you configured CDN for your website, do not enable proxies on records associated with the mail server.

Internal DNS

External DNS

@ MX mail.example.com "@" indicates the root.
To configure the MX record for the subdomain, enter the value.
autodiscover CNAME <Dedicated name for mail service> Optional

Configure Receive connectors

By default, Receive connectors are automatically created during installation, no configuration is required.

If you want to configure it to meet other requirements, refer to Receive connectors.

Configure Send connectors

By default, no Send connectors are created. This means you can't send outgoing emails.

Refer to Send connectors for sending outbound emails.

Create user mailboxes

An email address and mailbox are required for emails to be sent and received by a recipient.
